EAL/D
At Santa Clara School we acknowledge our culturally and linguistic diverse community and recognise and understand that some of our students require their teaching and learning to be supported through the use of the EAL/D Progress Maps.
The English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EAL/D) Progress Maps are a Western Australian planning, monitoring and assessment tool that assists students in developing Standard Australian English (SAE). Students that are following a modified curriculum through an EAL/D learning plan will have personalised learning goals set mapped according to the EAL/D Progress Maps.
Support
At Santa Clara School we offer Literacy Support for our students in Year 1 – Year 2 through MiniLit. Our MiniLit explicit small group support program runs four days a week covering key elements of reading instruction such as, phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension and oral language.
In the uppers years we offer MacqLit reading support for students from Year 3 and above. MacLit offers explicit small group reading and spelling support four days a week.
SciTEAM
Santa Clara Primary School is proud to offer a unique and targeted Extension program for selected students in Years 3-6. The SCiTEAM Program represents a select group of students who will form the Santa Clara Innovation Team working together through a range of authentic, problem-based tasks. Throughout the program, students will be set challenges that require them to THINK outside of the box, EXTEND their knowledge, ACHIEVE their goals, and MASTER a range of key skills, all while designing and implementing innovative solutions to real world problems.
